Hot Shots

Tennis West and Tennis Australia turn kids into Hot Shots. Tennis West is contributing to the tennis revolution by jumping onboard Tennis Australia’s kid’s starter program - MLC Tennis Hot Shots.

Tennis superstar Alicia Molik has thrown her support behind MLC Tennis Hot Shots to get more kids active through playing the game of tennis.

“I have always really enjoyed playing tennis, and it is great to see young kids having fun as part of the MLC Tennis Hot Shots program.  The softer balls and smaller courts really give them the chance to play the game, and get a feel for tennis, from the very beginning,” Alicia Molik said.

MLC Tennis Hot Shots is for children under 12 years of age.  The use of low compression tennis balls, smaller racquets and courts makes it easier for children to start playing tennis in a scaled down environment.

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) recommends the use of red, orange and green modified ball and court sizes, all part of MLC Tennis Hot Shots, as the ideal development pathway.

The competition program enables children who are not yet able to play tennis on a full size court with a regular tennis ball to compete against others at a similar standard whilst having fun.

Launched during the lead up to the 2008 Australian Open, the program has already attracted hundreds of official venues, with thousands of children now experiencing competition tennis for the first time. This is a great opportunity to get all children involved in tennis, the sport of a lifetime.
